My Carson-Dellosa order arrived!

My Carson-Dellosa order arrived yesterday! Of course I couldn't wait to open it up.  I bought bulletin board sets, borders, name tags, stickers, etc. for the "froggy" theme I decided to decorate with this year. Here are some pictures!
This is my bulletin board set for the very beginning of the year and some borders.

I bought this birthday bulletin board set to replace the Clifford one I've had for a while.  The poster is to go on the bottom part of my door to show the room number, grade, etc.
I love all my goodies!  I'm getting excited about school starting.
I can pick up my keys next week and start to work in my room.  I'm thinking of adding a class library corner.  I read Debbie Diller's book Math Work Stations and it was fabulous! I also read Daily 5 this summer. So I've got some new things to set up too. Busy, busy!

Getting Started

I'm trying to get my blog going but I don't know how to "follow" a blog.  I guess I need to do some research.  It sure has been great discovering teacher blogs.  I have been inspired again by the excitement and creativity I see out there.  One teacher, sorry I don't remember who, said that at one point the standards and pressure had gotten to her and she had to reintroduce some fun into the learning.  That's something I tried late last year when I was feeling down and I'm getting so many great ideas from everyone out there.  It's uplifting to hear people's stories and to hear others say what I've been telling my family and close friends for a while.  I also found a teacher named Lori who used adorable letters in her parent handbook.  She said they came from Lettering Designs.  Now my parent handbook has adorable frog letters to match my theme this year. Thanks, Lori!  She's at littlepriorities.blogspot.com with tons of great ideas!  Right now I'm off to check the blogs I enjoy following.  Bye for now

My First Blog Ever!

This is the first blog I've ever had! I became inspired by all the teachers out there sharing their stories and supporting each other. I titled by blog First Grade Found Me because it's always seemed like it found me rather than the other way around.  I wanted my first job to be in the upper grades. I knew I couldn't teach little kids, especially not Kindergarten where kids don't even know how to hold scissors or write their names.  But my first job was a 1st/2nd combo and I liked it.  My next job, in the district I'm currently in, was Kindergarten.  I decided I'd like whatever grade I got and sure enough... I did.  I moved to first grade after 3 years and it's found me.  I'd eventually like to try my hand at 5th grade, but the "cute" projects and "fun" stuff I get to do with little ones is what I love.  I'm excited to get blogging!
