Money Math Work Station

Today was a good Monday. We got a lot done in my classroom and my students did some really good writing in their journals. After school I was starting to change my math work stations again and thought there were too many that were just addition and subtraction. So I came home and made up this simple Coin Sort. I'll put them all in the same bin and students can choose which one to do. I hope you can use this and just add a bag of coins and have it ready to go. Have a great week!

Coin Sort Pages

Here is a sample page:
There is another page for sorting dimes and quarters and another for sorting all 4 coins.
P.S.- There's a cheat sheet too!

Months of the Year FREEBIE

It sure has been nice having today off. I remember when the day before Thanksgiving was a minimum day for students but full day with afternoon meetings for teachers. Boy am I glad that changed!
I hope you're enjoying this holiday time too. I thought I'd offer up this freebie. I made months of the year cards and 2 word searches that can go with Maurice Sendak's Chicken Soup with Rice (or without the poems, either way). I thought I'd use them with my top readers in reading groups to help them learn to read months of the year.

Here's the link to the cards and word searches:
Months of the Year

If you download them I'd love to know! Thanks!

The Sunshine Award rules are
1. Thank the person who gave this award and write a post about it.
2. Answer the following questions below.
3. And pass the award to 10~12 fabulous bloggers, link their blogs and let them know you awarded them.

* Favorite Color? Red, most of the time.
* Favorite Animal? Definitely cats. My husband and I have 2- brother and sister. I can't imagine not having a cat around.
* Favorite Number? Maybe 2. It occured to me that it's a very comfortable number and no one gets left out of 2.
* Favorite Drink? Oh, I'm bad... Dr. Pepper. I've cut back but I just love it.
* Facebook or Twitter? Facebook. My friend posts adorable pics of her kids- that's what got me started.
* Your Passion? My family. They are everything. Although, teaching ranks up there awfully high and blogging is taking up a lot of my time too- happily, of course.
* Giving or Getting Presents? Giving for sure. I love the smiles and letting people know I appreciate them. Honestly though, it's fun to get presents too.
* Favorite day? Saturday. Knowing I can sleep in helps me get through some of the other days.
* Favorite flowers? Alstromeria.

Here are the 12 blogs I have chosen:

I'm Thankful For...

I love to read people's posts about what they are thankful for. It has inspired me to post about what I'm thankful for. If you have wandered by
What the Teacher Wants yet, they're having a linky party so you can share too. Hope to read your post soon.

Here's what I'm thankful for:
1. What are you thankful for in your classroom?

This may sound corny, but I'm thankful for my students. I really do have a nice group this year. They allow me to do more fun things since they're so capable. I'm also thankful I still have some freedom left to include fun things once in a while.
2. What person are you most thankful for?
That isn't an easy question to answer... I'm very thankful for my wonderful husband. He is supportive, loving, hard working, and I'm so glad he has been a part of my life for so long. I'm thankful too for my mom, as she is my hero. She's been through some tough times and kept her chin up. I admire her for that and I'm thankful I have her as a role model. I'm so thankful for all my family and friends.
3. What 3 blogs are you most thankful for?
Oh wow, where to start?
Little Priorities,
Bishop's Blackkboard,
Oceans of First Grade Fun. I've gotten so many good ideas from these and many other blogs. As I look back at the bookmarks on my computers, the first blogs are Teaching in High Heels and The Inspired Apple. Thanks for launching me into this exciting world of teacher blogging. I'm so thankful for the whole teacher blogging community. It is incredibly motivating to read all of your blogs.
4. What guilty pleasure are you most thankful for?
Anyone that knows me would probably say Dr. Pepper. I think I'm addicted to it. But warm soft brownies have to be included too.
5. What are you most thankful for?
My husband, our 2 sweet kitties, and our bunny. They make coming home so wonderful.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
